So far as the Wellington food truck scene is concerned, Mao & Co pride themselves on being a step above. They’re renowned for bringing gourmet standards to the art of producing a “quick feed.” Connoisseurs of handmade dumplings and noodles, you’ll find the versatile and ever-satisfying food truck at their regular stops in Miramar and along the waterfront, as well as hosting wine tastings at Te Kairanga winery or feeding cricket fans at the Basin Reserve. Coloured by vegetable juice, their vibrant dumplings are hard to miss!
This shoot took place at owners of Mao & Co, Drew and Tom’s kitchen. It is here that they spend Tuesdays and Wednesdays preparing their dumplings and noodles for their weekly destinations. Here at Alter Ego, we looked to focus on the processes that make their dumpling brand so unique. Not only do they use fresh, organic and locally-sourced ingredients, it is in the space of their own home that they colour, fill and shape their dumplings! We endeavoured to highlight their very authentic, natural and intricate approach to dumpling-making. In addition to this, we valued to display the distinct colour of their dumplings, given that few providers of Asian cuisine partake in dumpling colouring to the same extent. Alter Ego would highlight Mao & Co's point of difference, as well as educate customers on the making of their favourite take-away meal!
To make the most of travel time and to ensure the entire process was captured, this was a 3 hour shoot, photographed by Alter Ego Account Manager & Photographer, McKenzie Collins. Mao & Co are a client of our sister company, Alter Ego Social Media. Find out more about our social media management packages here.
